Yes, there is an irony that 50 shades of far-right have learned how to cooperate with each other not in order to solve global problems and challenges but more to preserve the nation-states through the global divide of humans. I am active in Democracy Without Borders and from my experience, there is a lot of room and need for improvement for cooperation regarding all networks, organizations and communities who want to create an united world with common institutions and laws for the planet
Thank you for your provocative reflection. I cannot help regarding fascism, like communism, as a late 19th/early 20th century phenomenon, and think that there might be something to be gained from examining and ordering the commonalities of these two historical formations. I have always found Foucault's analysis of bio-political governmentality useful in this regard. I also think that there is something important in neo-conservative discussions of totalitarianism that may be helpful in drawing out the ways in which the subject constituted by the contemporary authoritarian reaction differs fundamentally from older formations such as fascism and communism. Today's economy operates in ways that are fundamentally different to those of the late 19th/early 20th century.
Excellent piece- thank you. I always appreciate writing that helps me to better organize my understanding of the dynamics of our political world, and this piece certainly succeeds on that front. After all the news on Trump’s plan for Gaza, I was thinking today about how the US fascist regime fits hand in glove with the far-right Netanyahu regime. All of these ultra-nationalist fascist regimes share an anti-humanist core, and just as they coalesce around that core, the Left has an opportunity to coalesce a movement around a humanist core that prioritizes economic and environmental justice for all people.
Thank you, Jess, and really well put—I wholeheartedly agree that there’s a real opportunity to invert the extreme right’s essential antihumanism. We can and should affirm a positive vision predicated on the pursuit of equality, ecology, peace, and dignity.
You can’t decide whether communist China is communist or not? Ok you are a moron. There is no neoliberal economics in China. Minorities are treated extremely well at all levels.
A radical Islamist insurgency took hold in Xinjiang and that is the reason for the problems there. They are handling it very well. There is no Uighur genocide.
This is trash in at least one respect. Putin’s Russia absolutely not fascist in any way, shape or form. He only supports fascist parties in Europe because they are friendly. He strongly supports most socialist and all communist and Leftist countries.
No fascist does that. In terms of economics, Russia is very socialist and still somewhat communist. Putin himself says he is still ideologically a socialist and a communist. Russia does not have an extreme rightwing economy. The presence of the state is large at all levels.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation is an ally! That would not be possible were he a fascist. Minorities of all varieties are not persecuted. Instead they are all woven into society and they are even celebrated.
Putin is such an antifascist that he went to war with a fascist-Nazi regime next door. It is an extreme insult in Russia to call someone a fascist.
Everyone else you listed is indeed hard rightwing, openly fascist or has fascist roots.
It’s hardly a brutal regime. There are 15 million hardcore opponents of Putin. Nothing much happens to any of them. In a recent election 13 candidates from the Putin-hating opposition ran. Anyone could vote for them.
The US supports 83% of the dictatorships on Earth.

What you are writing here is not only untrue but hateful and disgusting. You are missing Islamism as a justification for cultural genocide
Bootlicking NATO dog!
There is no cultural genocide.
A CCP propaganda account, yikes!

Red-brown leftists as you are known for supporting brutal regimes

It seems that you are a fascist
I’m a fascist!
